Appointments

Appointments, opening hours and urgent examinations

How can I book an appointment?

The fastest way is by phone at 047 655 999 during opening hours. You can also reach us via the Location & contact page — we will get back to you with the first available appointment.

What are your opening hours?

Monday, Thursday and Friday from 08:00 to 16:00, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 to 20:30. We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Do you offer urgent appointments?

Yes. For sudden problems such as eye pain or redness, a foreign body, a sudden drop in vision, flashes or “floaters” in your field of vision, we offer an urgent eye examination without a long wait. Call us and describe your symptoms.

What should I bring to my examination?

Previous medical reports and discharge letters, a list of the medicines you take, and the glasses or contact lenses you wear.

Examinations

What to expect from your examination

What is the difference between the specialist and the Premium Plus examination?

The specialist examination includes a vision and prescription check, eye pressure measurement, and examination of the front of the eye and the back of the eye (fundus). Premium Plus additionally includes imaging of the optic nerve and the blood vessels of the fundus, a free follow-up and consultation within one month, and a special price on glasses at Optika Paloma.

How often should I have my eyes examined?

We recommend an examination every one to two years, and more often if you have diabetes, raised eye pressure, a family history of glaucoma or a high prescription. Contact us immediately if you notice a sudden change in your vision.

Can I drive after the examination?

If your pupils are dilated with drops during the examination, your vision may be blurred and sensitive to light for a few hours. In that case we do not recommend driving — come with someone and bring sunglasses.

Do you examine children?

Yes. We examine children as part of the specialist eye examination, which includes checking visual acuity, prescription, and the alignment and movement of the eyes.

Cataract surgery

Cataract, preparation and lens choice

How do I prepare for cataract surgery?

Surgery is preceded by a detailed examination to determine how advanced the cataract is. We then go through the options, the procedure, recovery and possible risks with you, and choose the best lens together.

What is the difference between a monofocal and a multifocal lens?

A monofocal lens gives sharp vision at one distance, usually far, so reading glasses are usually needed. A multifocal lens provides sharp vision at several distances and less dependence on glasses.
